María naiz, 2016 urtetik Bilbon bizi den ilustratzaile Murtziarra. Fisikako doktoretza amaitu ondoren, une egokia iruditu zitzaidan nire tarte libreetan beti praktikatutako hizkuntzan trebatzen hasteko: ilustrazioa.
2021ean Gasteizko arte eskola publikoan (IDarte) goi-mailako ilustrazio zikloan matrikulatu nintzen eta urte berean enkargu batzuk egiten hasi nintzen. Zikloa bukatu ondoren jarraitu nahi nuen bide artistikoa eta nire ilustrazioekin komunikatu nahi nuena bilatzen hasi nintzen. Gaur egun, oso proiektu ezberdinak egiten ari naiz paraleloan: kartelak, liburuak, kamisetak, prentsa, eta komikiak. Alde batetik, oso interesatuta nago konposizioa, kolorea eta teknika desberdinak erabiltzean mezu edo emozio bat transmititu ahal izateko. Bestalde, ilustrazioa oso tresna boteretsua da ezagutza komunikatzeko. Alde horretatik, material ilustratuak egiten ditut kultura zabaltzeko.
Ilustrazioan, zientzian bezala, esperimentazioa funtsezko osagaia da eta, horregatik, ahalik eta gehien ustiatzen dut ilustratzeko prozesuaren zati hori.
Proiektuaren bat proposatu nahi badidazu, idatzi mezu bat eta hitz egingo dugu.

Soy María, una ilustradora murciana que vive en Bilbao desde 2016. Tras terminar el doctorado en Física, me pareció un buen momento para empezar a formarme en un lenguaje que siempre había practicado en mis ratos libres: la ilustración.
En 2021 me matriculé en el ciclo superior de ilustración de la escuela pública de arte de Vitoria (IDarte) y ese mismo año empecé a hacer algunos encargos. Una vez terminado el ciclo empecé a buscar el camino artístico que quería seguir y lo que quería comunicar con mis ilustraciones. Actualmente estoy haciendo proyectos muy diferentes en paralelo: carteles, libros, camisetas, prensa y cómics. Por un lado, estoy muy interesada en utilizar diferentes composiciones, colores y técnicas artísticas para poder transmitir un mensaje o una emoción determinada. Por otra parte, la ilustración es una herramienta muy poderosa para comunicar conocimiento. En este sentido, realizo diferentes materiales gráficos para contribuir a la divulgación cultural.
En la ilustración, como en la ciencia, la experimentación es un componente fundamental y por ello es la parte del proceso de ilustrar que más disfruto.

I’m María, an illustrator from Murcia, and I’ve been living in Bilbao since 2016. After finishing my PhD in Physics, it seemed like a good time for me to start training in a language that I had always practised in my spare time: illustration.
In 2021 I enrolled in the higher level cycle of illustration at the public school of art in Vitoria (IDarte) and that same year I began to do some commissions. Once I finished the cycle I started to look for the artistic path I wanted to follow and what I wanted to communicate with my illustrations. I am currently working on very different projects in parallel: posters, books, t-shirts, press and comics. On the one hand, I am very interested in using different artistic techniques, compositions and colours to convey a message or a certain emotion. On the other hand, illustration is a very powerful tool to communicate knowledge. In this sense, I make illustrated material for spreading culture.
In illustration, as in science, experimentation is a fundamental component and that is why it is the part of the illustration process that I enjoy the most.
